To lead on philharmonic or symphony is the most prestigious position a composer and conductor can have as it means a presence in many high profile gala performances and concerts with the wealth of classical and contemporary music under your baton with a potential string of recordings for global distribution.  The position also opens up film scoring which can further add to your prestige.  A resume here will require a portfolio of recorded orchestral performances.

2004 – Present:  Assistant Conductor, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra

  • Conduct the film score for a few Hollywood films
  • Assist the resident conductor in mounting auditions for new members of the orchestra and processes applicants
  • Provide back up support for rehearsals and performances not requiring the resident conductor

2000 – 2004:  2nd Assistant Conductor, Boston Symphony Orchestra

  • Prepare authentic orchestral works of the master for transcription to the modern orchestra

1994 – 2000:  1st Assistant Conductor, Academy of St Martin of the Fields

  • Select and recommend orchestra scores to the lead conductor
  • Ensure that compositional scoring for the masters contain authentic musical notations and markings as original documents for performance in authentic period orchestra.
