In the old days of highly individualized hand-made crafting, jewelry is crafted by the goldsmith and a jewelry designer who are often in one person. Today, while the jewelry designer draws his designs or puts them in computerized drawing systems, the jewelry craft technician translates those designs into the real thing. He is tasked to realize those designs crafting real precious metals and setting the stones, either manually using traditional jewelry making tools, or using computerized manufacturing systems to mass-produced the same designs in various sizes, stone settings or metals, whether yellow gold, white gold, silver, or platinum.
