The Broadcast technician operates and maintains the radio transmitting systems that allow television and radio broadcast to air, use satellite uplink or go through cable TV. Some are also involved in webcasting. The Broadcast technician assists the radio communications engineers in this work and is often assigned as the technical crew in mobile broadcast vans sent to cover remote news events.
